The In-Between Moments is a series that rewrites, elongates or adds scenes. Most of them take place in between major plot moments. Some of them slip easily into the ongoing canon, while others roll right into an alternative universe. They’re all one-shots, usually plot bunnies that strike when I’m supposed to be working on something else. They're short, not connected, and in no particular order -- and they usually have happy little endings.

Working on two much, much longer fics hasn't left me with much time for shorter little plot bunnies like this one. But I thought the new year turning over warranted a story about a new beginning, and this little field trip came quickly to life. It feels like we miss SO MUCH in between the wedding and the announcement of the Planet being resurrected, so this dives into what that could have been like (though it probably skews the timeline a little longer before Lois and Clark find out that before Mr. Stern has accepted Perry's offer.)

Any feedback is always very welcome, particularly constructive feedback. I didn't have a beta on this one, so any mistakes are mine (and I’m totally cool with you mentioning them if you see them - I’ll eventually submit this one to the archive, so I appreciate any help catching them!).

Thanks for reading!
Evie

I have not been reading consistently lately but I decided to try this one for a change. I am so glad I did! At the end I was hoping for Chapter 2 moving over to the Lois and Clark relationship repair.

This story really does fill in a lot of the blanks the series left between seasons 1 and 2. Of course, who knows how it would have gone if Deborah Joy LeVine had not been booted out at the end of season 1 over 'creative differences'.

Really nice job!

Mike

Thank you so much for this little gem. I loved how Superman came to Lois to get her out of the hole she'd been in. You're right about this part of their story needing more exploration. You did a great job!

Mike M, hey there! Thanks so much for taking the time to reply -- I'm glad it was an enjoyable read!
...you're right about Chapter 2 being Lois uplifting Clark. I also wonder if this chapter is actually a chapter 2 to Clark trying to prop up Lois, and seeing it not working... Hmm. You've got a good idea there. I'll pop it into the back-burner and let you know if I write them.

Also, I WHOLLY agree about Deborah Joy Levine having the potential to give us something a little meatier/more complex to work with relationship-wise at the top of season 2 if she'd remained the show runner. Such a tragedy to miss out on that.

bakasi, thanks so much for the kind words! I really appreciate it! hyper
