Hi everyone!

Let's see, it's been what, like 4 years? It's been an interesting 4 years for me. Lots of growth and change, the sometimes painful kind. I have been itching to write though, and have ideas floating around in my head.

I recently came across something called microfiction, which it turns out we already do. It was a challenge to write a story in 55 words using some words from a list and sticking to a theme. I think I'll try it. Perhaps I will post it here for some feedback.

I have some more brain space, which is currently being taken over by playing the piano... but I'm hoping to squeeze in some writing too to let those ideas out.

I've missed this forum! I hope everyone else is doing well.

Julie

Hi Julie,

Welcome back!

Your return was inevitable. Resistance is futile. Your biological and technical writing distinctiveness will be added to our own. (Wait, wrong franchise, but you get the idea.)

Microfiction sounds interesting. Is there a link to the challenges/prompts you can share with us?

Welcome back, Julie. I just returned yesterday after a few years of being mostly away due to personal reasons as well. It is good to be back.

I am used to writing 100-word stories, but 55-word ones sound like a pleasant challenge, especially if they have the added restraints of a theme and a words list. I look forward to your posting official challenges.

Out of curiosity, do you know why 55 was the number of words chosen? It seems an unusual number to pick. Why not 50? Or 42? Or 47? (And yes, two of the three of those are allusions to other fandoms.) I'm not complaining; I'm just curious.

Joy,
Lynn
