Some random family fluff, inspired by Calliopewaynes kid characters created in her fic Now Your Gone.

***

“Daddy!” Elara’s frightened cry cut through the rolling sound of the thunderstorm.

Clark and Lois exchanged a brief glance—Clark looking up from the basketball game he was watching, and Lois from her book.

They had both been waiting for this. They already had three shaking dogs on the bed. Thunderstorms rattled even Super pups.

“Daddy!” Elara yelled again, more desperate this time.

“She’s calling for you,” Lois said smugly. She fluffed her pillow and turned back to her book.

Another flash of lightning.

“Fine, I’ll catch the game on—”

KABOOM!

Lois screamed and threw her book as the lights and television flicked off.

Elara wailed.

The dogs hid under the bed.

“Power outage,” Clark announced.

“Go get your daughter, and get back here,” Lois said. “And check on Jon.”

***

Clark padded down the hallway. He stuck his head inside Jon’s room. The six-year-old was fast asleep, still tucked neatly under the covers, just as he had been hours earlier when he and Lois had said goodnight.

Clark smiled, closed the door, and continued to his daughter's room.

“Elara?” he said into the darkened room. “It’s Daddy. Where are you, sweet pea?”

“Daddy?”

He followed the sobs to her wardrobe, opening it gently.

Elara sat on the bottom of the closet, wedged between her soccer boots and a box of Barbie dolls.

“I’m here.”

“Daddy!” she screeched and jumped into his arms. “I was so scared!”

“It’s just a storm, honey.” He scooped her up and wiped the tears from her face. She was a mess—her face red, hair sticking straight up, sticky with snot and tears. “Come on, you can sleep with Mommy and me.”

Elara’s face split into a grin. “And Jon and the puppies?”

Clark smiled, knowing what she was thinking. One of their favorite things to do as a family was Sunday snuggles. They would all pile into the bed and have breakfast and watch cartoons. The dogs would jump around playfully and steal bites of pancakes. Lois would gripe about syrup in the bed but secretly love the chaos of the morning—and playfully trade kisses with Clark behind the kids’ backs.

“Jon’s asleep, sweetie, but I can make us pancakes in the morning, alright?” He bounced Elara in his arms as they left the room.

“Yes!” Elara squealed.

Clark grinned conspiratorially at her. “Okay, now let’s be quiet and see if we can scare Mommy…”

Aww this is so sweet! I like this version of Lois and Clark and has encouraged me to look at the fics that inspired it and seems like there's a whole series to add to my Must R
ead list!
