Since this thread has already been derailed, I'll just chime in here
. I don't think $2.50 (or $2.0) is too little for a nine-year-old. What's a nine-year-old going to need tons of money for? When I was that age, I got about the same amount (of course, $2.50 was also worth more back then, so it would be, like, $3.50 today) and I put most of it in my savings account. I got about $15/week in high school (and that
included money to buy new clothes). And I didn't die from deprivation.
