That was bittersweet. Clark is smart and realizes Lois is too young to make a lifetime commitment and that she needs to grow first and spread her wings. He does not want her down the line to look back and resent him because she didn’t get to experience life before making a commitment to him. I still hope they eventually end up happily together.
