I agree with the others who think that Clark is already suspicious about Lois's age and has a feeling that she's hiding something. (My personal guess would be that he thinks she's an undercover police officer. We had one at the high school I went to and just about everyone had a feeling that something was wrong about that guy...confirmed after the police came in on a narcotics bust.) So I can accept his actions based on that belief and not think he's doing (or thinking) anything inappropriate about an underage student...subconsciously he really already knows the truth. That way, I can just enjoy the story!

But I'm interested in seeing how your vision of the story plays out...you've put your characters into quite a predicament!
