Much to Lois's frustration, she couldn't see his face clearly. She had wanted to share in his reaction. Then his head turned and he looked up.

A smile?

It was brief.

Fleeting.

But his mouth had appeared to move.

And it *could* have been a smile.

Lois found herself answering him.

Even if *he* hadn't smiled, *she* was smiling.
