BUT He is NOT an impartial observer, he is part of the system and it is a standard defense mechanism to blame the source of change; claiming they have a personal bias. After all if they DON'T that implies something is wrong with them, if he admits to himself that Lois is doing what any unbiased good person would do, that means Daniel should have already taken action if he is a good person.
