Along the same notes, I think Clark was stupid to turn down going to the celebrity event with Lois. It isn't like Superman needs to be there the whole time. He can have an emergency delay his arrival, so he can really arrive with Lois, and then have to wander off.
OK, it is not ideal, but I am still surprised he gave up time to spend with Lois.
