Kal turned to see his brother Ching, dressed in his own fine robes accented in the traditional blue of the House of El.
What a cool twist! Love seeing Ching's character this way!
And a tux does not look funny – it is sharp, stylish.
It's really nice the way you're threading in his appreciate for earth.
Well, with that sour look on your face, I cannot speak highly of your looks at the moment.
This really gives us a great sense of how good of friends they are!
You have known Zara since you were children.
Yay! So glad they got a happy ending!!
I had intended to finish my education and begin working before I even thought about seeking a bride. But now…
Love this parallel between he and Lois.
He made it clear that this was my choice. I could refuse. But I know the consequences if I do.
It's actually really nice that both dads were rational and empathetic about this. It feels like it gives the story a lot more hope!
To begin with, she hadn’t planned on getting married at all until she finished her degree and got her dream job at the Daily Planet, won a few Kerth awards, maybe even a Pulitzer.
Also really fun to see how much more ambitious she is than Kal. Very in character!
...this so-called ‘Marriage of State’ they were pushing for.
Heeeeeeyyyyyyyy!!
There was no way she could memorize all of these rules in time.
Ughhhh - this hits my anxiety level so hard!
She would have to leave her family and her home to journey to a distant, desolate planet with a husband she knew nothing about.
She really is brave.
She may have only just started Tae-kwon-do but she’d picked up a few tricks
Fun to see this in this context!
“Am I supposed to go in?” she asked. The other woman’s face was impassive. She did not respond. “Yes? No? Maybe?” Lois prompted further to no avail. “Okay… I’m gonna go in now. Alright?” She slowly reached for the panel which would open the automated pocket-door. When no one stopped her, she completed the action.
This is HILARIOUS!
She took a breath to steady herself, determined that she would not show weakness, and looked back at her husband-to-be only to find him staring at his feet.
This introduction is really just so rich and enjoyable because WE know what they're like (generally) but they really don't. Clark staring at his shoes just got me, lol.
What followed was basically meaningless to Lois. A lot of words were said – none of which she understood.
Such a great and hilarious detail.
Looking forward to reading the next part!
