Hi Ann!!!

DJ, I'm sorry that this won't be long, but I really thought that Clark's nightmare was absolutely horrible. It was brilliantly written, too. It was the absolutely worst kind of nightmare, the kind that is, in the beginning at least, not too absurd to be obviously untrue. It could have happened.
Brilliantly written? Why thank you Ann. blush Yes, I thought the same thing... it wasn't too obsurd to be real. In fact, I was almost really mean and cut it off before you found out he was in Lois Lane's bedroom... dreaming. Because he could have easily still be back at the hospital with Lana... and have dreamt the the other stuff. laugh But I thought it would be too evil to leave you hanging there...

The first chance he got, he spent the night with another woman.
Yes, even if it was fairly innocuous. That was why my muse decided to change the epilogue... as nice as the nfic scene was (or so I've been told wink ) Would our sweet little, boyscott, Clark, really have jumped into bed that quickly with Lois? And without "protection" to boot? I just don't think so. In the show they waited until they were married because they wanted it to be something special. And Lois has been burned before. So I just really didn't think they would jump into this that quickly. Plus, I would have had so much more angst to have dealt with in the sequel (did he get her pregnant) that I would have had to loose focus on his loss of Lana... and he really still needs to deal with that.

Now trust me, I could have written the angst, if my Muse had wanted to... but she just didn't want to. She said it was going to be depressing and Lois would be upset with him through most of the story, and he'd feel even guiltier over Lana - we might drive the poor guy past the point of no return. So you can see why I shyed away from that.

I think you'll still enjoy the angst... and this way we get to have a little fluff and fun too.

Although, there is one piece of this particular story that you just might kill me over, but enough said about that... we'll deal with that when we come to it... ahem...

Yes, I did say I wanted to read a sequel, too. Because when I read your first version of this, I thought that Clark should be more guilty and uncomfortable about Lana's death than he seemed to be. Well, now you've made him guilty with a vengeance, and now this is the question. Will Clark's guilt at Lana's death cause him to break another woman, too? Will his bad conscience about Lana make him cruel to Lois, too?
All very good questions. I look forward to being able to answer them...

I'm going to sit down and read this one again before reading your new epilogue since it has been a long time since I have read it.
You might want to wait until next weekend. I think it will hit the archive next weekend. My GE told me she submitted it. Yeah! And - WOW - I can't believe you want to re-read the whole thing. I'm flattered! blush

Ooops, did I say that? You didn't see anything... <DJ waves her hand in front of your face>

Thank you all so much for the encouraging words and lovely fdk. I'll see you back here with more, just as soon as I possibly can...
