Hmmm....
A lot of what I was thinking has been said here.
Clark knows an awful lot about himself in this universe he didn't know in L&C at the same age...
The thing that stood out for me here, aside from how Clark went back on what was agreed and didn't think with the right head when he did see Lana, is how calm Lana was. She was desperate... yes... but I felt she should have been angry... that surprised me...
And as someone else said... her desperation instead.. it gives me a feeling of insecurity, and a dangerous possessiveness. I don't think she is going to take this lying down...
I was also surprised Clark didn't go all the way with Lana, given this was potentially his only chance for the next 5 years. And like someone else said, it didn't seem to be because of Lois, but because of the vows he had made in the face of god. Clark has never been overly religious that I've seen... so.. that's interesting...
While we'd like to think Lois and Clark are 'love at first sight', I agree with Carol... you can love another person in different conditions, experiences... and I think at this point in time, Lana is that love on which Clark is fixated, not unlike the parallels you could draw to Lois in the last episode of S3. You could also draw parallels between the relationship Lois and Clark are in as akin to that of Clark and Zara...
I think over time, that love can change. Clark doesn't have to forget Lana, or ignore his love for her, but things can change...
So while I 'hope' Lois and Clark can make things work and be happy little bunnies through this, I also accept that may not be how this story ends.
Of more interest to me is the premise that their hypothermic dream induced mating is their 'cover'. I can't wait to find out who the father of the child is, and how Clark may react to this.
I am also eager to see how Clark reacts to the ultrasound pictures. Will Lois show him? Or will he discover them himself... hmm...
p.s. Carol, my little man has just turned 18 months, and only recently have his teeth decided to make an appearance... which is nothing but stressful due to his medical situation.... I admire your ability to write while tending to young kids... I find it nigh on impossible (admittedly I have no support base other than hubby).
